Gaylord Ivanhoe

Gaylord Ivanhoe is a 2016 pure Cleveland Bay stallion from Gaylord Cleveland Bays in Berryville, Virginia.  Peter and Gillian Cook are wonderful people striving to make a difference for the breed much like we are. Ivan is by Rambler’s Richard Lionheart (a stallion of former breeder, Marilyn Webster) and out of Belladonna Xtravagance (Knaresborough Fusilier x Penhryn Extravagant).

Ivan measures 17.1 1/2hh and had over 9.25" of bone at his stallion inspection in 2018. Ivan is bay with a small white star, registered with the Cleveland Bay Horse Society, and was awarded a license for breeding in 2018.   Ivan's strengths are an even temperament, a plethora of substance and bone, and lovely movement - almost warmbloody.

While Ivan was lightly saddle-broke at age 3, because of his size we focused on letting him grow and breed (through collection/AI) on a limited basis. In spring 2024, we sent him back to Dustin Craig for a few months of saddle work. Dusty found that the foundation from age 3 was strong and in less than 60 days Dusty was showing him under saddle at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show. Starting in late summer and through fall, Ivan was worked a couple of times per week here on the farm. Our goal is to continue his saddletraining in Spring 2025 and potentially show him in the various Cleveland Bay shows across the summer. See videos of Ivan under saddle below.

Ivan is available for breeding pure, part-bred, and non-Cleveland mares at Bella Vista's discretion. While some breeding terms are negotiable, ALL progeny of Bellavista stallions are required to be registered with CBHS.
