Our Mission

We breed athletic horses for discerning riders

and are doing our part to save the endangered

Cleveland Bay!

Did you know that there are less than 200 purebred Cleveland Bays in the United States and less than 1,000 in the world?

In 2024, there were 7 purebred foals registered from the United States - two of which were from Bella Vista and another of which was sired by one of our stallions via another breeder.

Welcome!

Please enjoy your visit with our horses. Navigate across our site at the top right and learn about the breed, our horses, and see some of our horses out and about! We don’t just breed our horses, our horses are a part of our family. We stand by what we breed and we have a great list of satisfied customers who’ve become a part of our extended Bella Vista family. This is a passion!

Built over more than a decade, we’ve put 35 foals on the ground from our own breeding program. A number of other wonderful examples of Cleveland Bay horses have been produced as people breed their own mares to our stallions. We stand two pure Cleveland Bay stallions that are exceptional. We have frozen semen stored from four additional pure Cleveland Bay stallions and have used outside stallions in thoughtful ways to add influence into horses that have become foundations in our breeding program. Our mare herd for breeding includes four pure Cleveland Bay mares, and two warmblood mares. We are based in the beautiful Middletown Valley, nestled along the Catoctin Mountains, in Maryland, USA.

Something we’re very proud of… We’ve sold 20something horses from our breeding program into homes and eight of those homes have loved those horses so much to several years later buy another or refer an immediate family member to buy one from us. We think this is unheard of and a testament to our horses.

We have one focus - QUALITY. Our babies are the result of careful selection of sire and dam. Every horse we’ve added to our breeding program checks the important boxes of great temperament and lovely movement beyond the basics of conformation.

Explore to learn more about the rare Cleveland Bay horse, the Bella Vista breeding program, and how you can be a part of a truly magnificent breed. Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out. Preservation of this worthy breed hinges on awareness, understanding, and people trying a breed they’ve maybe only encountered once or twice. Please find a way to help this important breed because the current path is unsustainable!!!

Best, Jason Daisey, Malcolm Harkins, and Logan Daisey-Harkins
